[Maine-birds] Re: Seal Island NWR (Restricted Access) - Icelandic Arctic Tern

After submitting the band to the proper authorities in Iceland I have learned that this sighting is the first band recovery of a tern "ringed" in Iceland in the United States.

Hi all,

Yesterday, I was quite excited to read the band of a second year Arctic Tern which was banded in Iceland. I need to do some more digging to see if there are other United States band recoveries or re-sightings of Arctic Terns banded in Iceland but, for the meantime I have submitted the band to the proper authorities in Iceland and hope to hear back about the bird soon. There are currently no recognized subspecies of  Arctic Terns but, it is still fascinating none the less!

All the best,

Keenan
