[Maine-birds] Lincoln Northern Hawk Owl

The Northern Hawk Owl has now been here for 2 months (we 1st spotted him on November 12th).  He was very active today, We saw him in 4 different spots: in the trees behind the bank at the corner of rt 2 and Penobscot Valley Ave, at the railroad tracks, in a tree on Buckley Avenue and finally on the wires adjacent to the field at the southwest corner of rt 2 and Penobscot Valley Ave.  We parked and watched him from about 30 yards away this afternoon, when he flew almost directly towards us, diving into the field 10 feet from our car where he snagged and dispatched a small furry critter.  He was then chased off by 2 ravens- he flew into the woods(with his prey). The owl was a lot faster than the ravens.
The last 2 months have been a lot of fun; we have not grown tired of watching him and will continue to post him on ebird and here from time to time.
