Hello birders,
I went to Fort Foster and noticed this large FALCON sitting on Wood Island, in the Piscatagua River, about 1000 feet away. (I measured it on Google maps).
The head was dark and and when it turned its head, the side of the face was all dark and could not make out any detail like a mustache. I was looking almost into the sun so that was a pain.
The whole bird was dark, sitting with its back to me.
I digiscoped 15 pictures which I knew are terrible. I loaded 3 pictures on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/groups/2166609@N23/?added=3
photo #7 shows the compression to a boat in the back ground. http://www.flickr.com/photos/22247688@N04/11938043846/in/pool-2166609@N23/
The side by side photo is of a C. Loon sitting just in front of the rocks that the falcon was on. http://www.flickr.com/photos/22247688@N04/11937475973/in/pool-2166609@N23/
Photo #15 shows a white strip down the center of its back. http://www.flickr.com/photos/22247688@N04/11937475443/in/pool-2166609@N23/
What do you think it is??
Happy birding,
Andy Aldrich
