The ring of snow on the eye of the Rusty Blackbird is not a falling flake or an artifact of the camera, other photos show that it is frozen onto the bird's head. Bird was sitting on a low branch over our deck.at 8:55 a.m. I don't know how any of these birds can survive and I can't think of any way to help them. There are roosting boxes and lots of trees with cavities in the yard, but apparently food is the priority. I've got to refill that feeder a.s.a.p.
