[Maine-birds] Sidney and Belgrade birds

Life is good when you can pull weeds in the garden while listening to bobolinks, savannah sparrows, and our always-singing c. yellowthroat in the foreground with a scarlet tanager and veery in the background. Four barn swallows and our four tree swallows rounded things out at home.

In Belgrade today I walked my students down the Depot Road and was treated to bank swallows flying out to forage (low, so the kids could really see them), tree swallows, purple martins, prairie, yellow and chestnut sided warblers,  a bobolink, and three little killdeer chicks with their parents on the baseball field. They must be the ones who nested on the school roof. We also saw a martin sitting on one of the new gourds at the Belgrade Library.
