[Maine-birds] Messalonskee - Jun 11

Paddled over to the SE corner of Messalonskee yesterday. Highlights included:

- only 1 bugle call (Sandhill Crane) coming from an area not known to host nesters. None seen
- Estimated 16 Ad. Black Terns; actively fishing. Should probably avoid entering the "stump flats" as those birds seemed particularly sensitive to my presence
- 3 Ring-necked ducks, including a pair that growled at me as I approached
- 6 calling PB Grebes
- 1 VA Rail
- 4 Purple martins, foraging over the lake
- Perhaps most unusual, an Eastern Willet; not sure I've ever seen one this far inland
