[Maine-birds] Re: Black-headed Gull x Ring-billed Gull presumed hybrid, Falmouth

After waiting about 2 hours for this very distant bird to lift its wings, I finally got a good view of it in flight. This gull is smaller than a Ring-billed Gull, has large white mirrors in the outer primaries, a ghost-like head pattern of Black-headed but with apparent faint streaking mid-crown, a small bill that is salmon colored with a black tip, and dark reddish brown legs and feet. Its appearance matches other presumed hybrids of Black-headed X Ring-billed Gull (e.g. this bird: https://flic.kr/p/dLbznF), and there are some older records of such a hybrid from the Eastern Prom, for example. I will post photos later.
