Hello All,
While birding Runaround Pond Road off Route 9 in Durham, Maine,at about 7:50 this morning I found a singing male Lark Sparrow at the intersection of Chesley Hill Road and Davis Road, just off Runaround Pond Road. It was singing from the tamarack tree near a house with horse paddocks, and called with a sharp "tick" note when I pished for a better view and then flew across Davis Road to a stand of alders where I viewed it for nearly a half hour getting good looks at the bold facial markings, black tail with white outer feathers. The bird perched in the open with ATSP and its breasted was lighter and easier to spot than the ATSP. Mostly striking was the broad buffy stripe above the eye. It seemed to be hanging out with American Tree Sparrows and there were also two Song Sparrows in the area.Maine birds mailing list
