Seth Benz and I finished leading a 5-day tour on Tuesday. Lots of highlights, and one puzzle:
We hit the South Lubec Sand Flats at the perfect tide on Sunday, under perfect conditions. Only 3 Black-bellied Plovers came in. No other shorebirds alighted on first mud, and only a handful of peeps were swirling around in the distance as the tide dropped. Meanwhile, I’ve been seeing many times more shorebirds than normal at Pinkham Bay in Steuben this summer. If anyone else is experiencing a weird shorebird season, please reply offline.
Meanwhile, I finally found some time to play with video taken during our June tours. The baby moose is adorable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2zLXXGWB2Q.
