[Maine-birds] This Week's Highlights, 2/4-10

Hi all,
My observations of note over the past seven days included the following:

- 24 Dunlin, 5 Purple Sandpipers, and 1 1st-winter Iceland Gull, Winslow Park, Freeport, 2/4 (with Saturday Morning Birdwalk group).
- 1 Northern Shrike, Desert Road, Freeport, 2/4.
- 1 1st-winter Iceland Gull, Saco Riverwalk, 2/6 (with Jeannette).
- 1 Snowy Owl (apparently, Project SNOWstorm's "Wells") off East Point, Biddeford Pool, 2/6 (with Jeannette).
- 1 HERMIT THRUSH, Florida Lake Park, Freeport, 2/9.
- Peregrine Falcon eating a DOVEKIE on the rocks at Dyer Point, Cape Elizabeth, 2/10. Two hours of seawatching there produced 1 southbound Brant (FOY), 12 Razorbills, 2 large alcid species, and 3 smaller alcid species, etc.
- 1 Northern Shrike, Kettle Cove Road, Cape Elizabeth.
- Both the immature male and the female KING EIDERS continue at the Portland Fish Pier, 2/10.
- 5 Iceland Gulls (1 adult, 4 1st-cycle), Old Port, Portland, 2/10.
