Ever decide to just "pop-in" to a place to see what birds are around even though you really don't have enough time to truly look and be present? Yup..I did that today in Kittery Point. I haven't been to the stunning Seapoint Beach in a few months (at least) and thought I'd see what was around in this windy weather.
Just 10 mins after walking down the beach, I heard a noise I haven't heard in a long time...the rolling "Crr-rr-rr-onk!" of a flock of Brant! There were 5 trying to avoid the crashing waves...and they flew right close to the beach- giving me a great view.
Another 10 mins went by while I was spying loons and a grebe offshore, when a BIG group came right toward me - 22 brant - and flew past under 100' to the SW. It was awesome.
That's all! Happy birding :)
