[Maine-birds] Ruby-Throated display, Nobleboro

Yesterday late afternoon we had a male Ruby-Throated Hummingbird do a bit of a dance for us at the garden edge. In contrast to the U-shaped displays described online, it was in the shape of a sideways figure eight or lemniscate, ∞. The entire flight area was about 15' long and from 2' to 8' high coming about 6' from us at the closest. We were near one end. [Maine-birds] Brooksville--- Baltimore Oriole!!!!!!!

Wow--loopked out my window, and there, 5' away was a Baltimore Oriole trying to figure out the hummingbird feeder--which eventually it sort of did. This was on 5/18I had some Mandarin oranges and zipped them out into my suet feeders and there was the Oriole cleaning out the oranges. I have never had a BAOR here before. [Maine-birds] Swainson’s Thrush

This evening at Roque Bluffs, shortly after 8:00pm our first of year Swainson's Thrush. I recorded the song on my iPhone camera video and on Merlin but I dont know how to link either to eBird. [Maine-birds] California Fields.

My cousin and a mutual friend spent a couple hours birding at the California Fields in Hollis today. We had several sparrow species , Grasshopper, Field, Savannah along with Towhees. There were many Prairie Warblers and one Indigo Bunting. I do want to give a shout out about the ticks here. They are numerous. [Maine-birds] Heron Help

I am driving through Kansas on my way home and saw what looked like a blue heron flying up from a marsh. However, this heron has alternating colors (dark and white) on the underside of its wings. Has anyone ever heard of a white morph mixing with a standard great blue? Or was this a different bird? Mike,I'd speculate it's simply a coincidence that this song sparrow song is similar, in part, to a towhee's. Both species have a varied repertoire with patterns that overlap, so it wouldn't surprise me that sometimes one would sound quite a bit like the other. [Maine-birds] Song Sparrows Imitating Towhees

Evening AllOver the past year or so I've noticed two distinctly different Song Sparrow songs, one of which is very to our Eastern Towhee.I've also noted that the Towhee imitators are not Song Sparrows that stay over winter with us.Perhaps our ornithologists have some idea as to why this is the case. [Maine-birds] FOY hummer and warbler fallout in the rain

We were working outside in the rain without binocs but saw a Male RT hummer foraging in the PJM rhododendrons and a sudden drop of a couple dozen warblers into our mature sugar maples, oak and Norway spruces.
