Visitors:
20 people stopped by the Hawkwatch on this gorgeous day.

Weather:
It was a bit of a scorchah today. Temperatures climbed into the 70s, and winds were light, with a few gusty blows occasionally. Skies were mostly clear throughout the day. The winds started out in the NW and shifted around to the south by 3:30.

Raptor Observations:
It was a disappointingly slow day with a NW to westerly flow most of the day. Only 10 hawks were counted in the first 6 hours of the count. It wasn't until the southerly seabreeze that had been reported in Portland almost all day finally penetrated inland to Bradbury when hawks were finally seen in any numbers, bringing our total to 25.

Non-raptor Observations:
37 species were observed from the summit today. The sky was surprisingly empty of migrating non-raptors (with the exception of Red Admiral butterflies which staged an impressive flight today, especially in the afternoon!), but those deemed migrating were: 29 Double-crested Cormorants 7 Tree Swallows 5 Chimney Swifts 5 Barn Swallows 1 Common Loon 1 Yellow-rumped Warbler

Predictions:
Well, it looks like we will be entering another unsettled weather pattern, dodging rain showers for the foreseeable future. Tomorrow is predicted to be much cooler with winds out of the east and overcast skies. We may or may not get any hawkwatching in before the rain becomes established.
