Nat Wheelwright, professor at Bowdoin College, is giving a talk Tuesday, Feb 28 at noon on the University of New England's Biddeford Campus.  The talk will be in the Alfond Center for Health and Sciences, room 113.  This talk is jointly sponsored by the Departments of Environmental Studies and Biology--it is free and open to the public.

The inheritance of divorce in Savannah Sparrows

 

About half of the adult Savannah Sparrows that survive the winter and return to breed on Kent Island, New Brunswick select new mates, even when their previous mate is still alive. Using the techniques of quantitative genetics, I explore whether the tendency to "divorce" is heritable.
