[Maine-birds] Purple Martins in Belgrade

I saw in ebird that the purple martins were back, so I stopped by on my travels between schools. There was a veritable cloud of them on Depot Road over the martin houses. So nice to hear and see them again.

I also saw a pair of belted kingfishers heading from a gravel pit towards the lake. Hope to see a nest cavity soon.

There was also a broad winged hawk hunting from the wires along Rt. 27 and a killdeer calling near the school. They used to nest on the school roof when there was gravel, but they replaced the material and I haven't seen killdeer nearby for a couple of years.
