Yesterday we saw six species of shorebirds feeding on the mudflats in Flat Bay (Harrington): Semi-palmated Sandpiper, Semi-palmated Plover, Black Plover, Greater and Lesser Yellowlets and a lone White-rumped Sandpiper. There are hundreds of Semi-palmated Sandpipers and Black Plovers that we can see from our house, and the numbers are more likely in the thousands all along the bay where we are unable to see and count.
A peregrine was cruising along the tree tops in front of our house and along the shoreline at yesterday morning's low tide.
