[Maine-birds] Fort Fairfield: Turkey vulture, Osprey and Bald eagle

Gliding over Puddledock Pond were several large birds. The Osprey made sense, as did the Ravens, but a single Turkey vulture was a surprise.  S/he landed with the Ravens in someone's yard, wandered a bit and then took off again.

Also seen:
At least 5 Common merganser pairs
Hooded mergansers
Ring-necked Ducks
A pair of Canada geese flew over, as well

Yesterday at Collins Pond in Caribou were:
Many Canada geese
Common mergansers
Hooded mergansers
Ring-necked ducks
Common goldeneyes
Mallards

Bill Sheehan swore he saw a Northern shoveler, too, but I can't confirm. His binoculars are better than mine.

What drew us to Fort Fairfield, though, were a pair of Bald eagles in a beautiful nest easily seen from Route 161 on an island in the middle of the river. One was in the nest and another was perched several hundred yards away on another craggy tree.
