Visitors:
74 people visited the hawkwatch. It was wonderful to see so much interest in the project!

Weather:
It was a lovely, mostly clear day that started off with light northwest winds in the morning. In the afternoon, winds shifted to a light breeze that was mostly from the south and southwest. Temperatures were mainly in the fifties and low sixties.

Raptor Observations:
There was a good movement of Osprey, Sharp-shinned Hawks, and Broad-winged Hawks throughout the day. Many birds followed high flight paths over the summit. This was especially evident during early afternoon, when winds shifted and carried in new flurries of migrants. American Kestrels became most active during mid-afternoon. Immature Red-tailed Hawks were coming through as well.

Non-raptor Observations:
Other migrants were also quite active, and we enjoyed watching long lines of Double-crested Cormorants passing by. A Wild Turkey was spotted landing near the edge of Pownal field.

Species deemed migrating:
173 Double-crested Cormorants
85 Common Grackles
54 Tree Swallows
27 American Robins
8 passerine sp.

Predictions:
Tomorrow should be another great day. It is predicted to be mostly cloudy and with northeast winds in the morning, becoming southeasterly in the afternoon. However, these winds should be light with nicely warm temperatures. As long as cloud cover stays high, there should be good raptor movement.
