[Maine-birds] Common Gallinules, Am Golden Plovers and plenty of migrating hawks & passerines - Lake Josephine, Sep 8, 2012

Hi all -- with thanks to Bill for the early report yesterday, here is one of our eBird lists. The list below comes from Lake Josephine eBird hot spot, and involved walking the s. dike and then descending s. into the wetlands due s. of the dike.

As always, Bill is a great and super talented County birding host, and being out there with him was a blast.

Other highlights from a total 3 hours in the area included:

  • 23 Am. Golden Plovers (pretty exhilarating!) just n. of the Conant Rd
  • 1 Wilson's Snipe in Mars Hill (intown reservoir)
  • decent "duckage" on Christina Reservoir (Gadwall, Ring-necks, others), plus another Merlin and a scattering of shorebirds
  • nothing amazing at Trafton Reservoir
Happy to share other eBird lists from specific locales with anyone interested.

Best,
Craig K
