[Maine-birds] schoodic 9-8-12

Highlights of yesterday's birding effort at Schoodic were sparse due to wind direction and thick fog in am
and persistent yet oscillating clearing fog in the afternoon.  A yellow-breasted chat (captured at banding station)
got the most votes for bird of the day.  Songbirds were few and far between otherwise.
Raptors were spotted with some regularity but may have been the same birds coursing about the tip of
the peninsula -  SS, M, BE.
Northern gannets were consistent from Schoodic Point in the early afternoon. During a 2 hour watch, 36 were counted.
All were moving south west, angling from the point toward Bass Harbor (roughly).
