Hi all,
Despite a very strong nocturnal migration, only a moderately-strong Morning Flight passed over and through Sandy Point Beach , Cousin's Island, Yarmouth this morning. Calm winds overnight, and a slightly north puff by dawn, combined to reduce the number of birds undergoing a westward re-determined migration (to oversimplify things a bit). However, this included a very cooperative Dickcissel…oh yeah, and a Connecticut Warbler!
6:07-8:40am.
61 F, Mostly cloudy, calm.

Also, 10 Monarch butterflies.
*Connecticut Warbler Notes:
At least 1-2 birds a year pass by here that I call "possible" or "probable" COWA. I think at least a few are passing through Sandy Point each fall. Today, I saw the bird well enough to confidently make the call. Spotting the bird as a silhouette, I thought Northern Waterthrush . As I followed the bird overhead into good light, it was obviously yellow throughout the undersides, including the exceptionally long undertail coverts. Pale gray hood, but eye/face not seen. Large size compared to a nearby Blackpoll flying at the same height. Did not call.
