[Maine-birds] Weskeag

Bet you knew I wouldn't hang up my 'scope this shorebird season, didn't ya?  Not that it improved my numbers much. 

I did have a first today, though:  more solitary sandpipers (3) than least (2) :).  I arrived at Westkeag shortly after low tide, which isn't the best time to tour this pretty spot, so high tide might be better.  But I couldn't scare up a pectoral in the near ponds, and never went past these as there didn't seem to be a single shorebird.  Lots of herons, though.  At least 15 great egrets and twice that number of snowy.  Six great blues and a dozen or so double-breasted cormorants.  And a kingfisher.

Nice day to be outside, though, and the coffee's still great at the Thomaston Cafe.
