[Maine-birds] Shorewhats?

I think I may put my scope away until the Arctic birds begin filtering down.  I can't remember a more disappointing shorebird season.  I didn't have much time to bird this summer, but still, I think if I tallied up the shorebirds I've missed seeing this year the list would be longer than those I did manage to find.  I even missed a local breeder -- oystercatcher.  There are years when I don't see an Arctic tern, but this year I missed roseates as well.  Jees.

Birded the Scarborough River flats and bars at low tide this morning, Hills Beach at midtide, and the 7th Street side of Biddeford Beach on the rising tide.  Best birds were three whimbrel, one at Pine Point and two on the Biddeford Pool side at Hills Beach.  Mostly sanderlings and semi/semis.  A a sprinkling of black-bellied plovers.

Did manage to catch a few photos at Biddeford beach of both semipalmated sandpipers and sanderlings, which if interested you can find here:

Cheers.  And better luck next year?
