Seasonal notes:
EVENING GROSBEAKS and WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS continue to be reported around the state but are being overshadowed by the PINE GROSBEAKS invasion. Reports this week, in no particular order, have come from: Unity, Lewiston, Hollis, Waterville, Falmouth, Yarmouth, Monmouth, Town Hill, Auburn, Portland, West Orono, South Gardiner, Hampden, Augusta, Scarborough, Lisbon Falls, Freeport, and Newcastle.

York County

A WESTERN KINGBIRD continued to be reported near the intersection of Sky Harbor Road and Hills Beach road in Biddeford until the 13th.

On the 17th, an ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, a late NASHVILLE WARBLER and a CHIPPING SPARROW were reported from the Saco Yacht Club at the end of Front Street in Saco.

Greater Portland

A YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT was seen at 400 Southborough Drive in South Portland on the 14th.

On the evening of the 14th, a CAVE SWALLOW was seen foraging around the docks at Pine Point in Scarborough.

CACKLING GEESE continue to be reported from Thorhurst Farm in North Yarmouth with two on the 12th and up to five by the 15th. A GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GOOSE also continued here.

A late AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER was seen on Cross Road in Cumberland on the 13th.

Another CACKLING GOOSE continues to be seen from Greeley Road in Cumberland as of the 14th.

On the 14th, a NORTHERN SHRIKE was reported from Merrill Road in Pownal.

Kennebec River Valley (Augusta-Waterville)

A late BLUE-HEADED VIREO was reported from Readfield on the 12th.

Highlights from the Hatch Hill Landfill in Augusta on the 15th included: one dark-phase ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK, a HOARY REDPOLL, and an ICELAND GULL.

A group of 19 SANDHILL CRANES were seen in Norridgewock on the 16th. The birds were in a farm field along Route 8, about 1.5 miles south of Route 2.

Midcoast

On the 12th, a late YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER was reported from Hermit Island.

Penobscot Bay

A late NORTHERN PARULA was seen on Shaw Ave in Rockland on the 12th.

Downeast

On the 16th, a deceased CAVE SWALLOW was found in Winter Harbor.

Continuing from November 5th, a PINK-FOOTED GOOSE has been frequenting the fields off Willey District Road, just west of Wing Siding Road, in Cherryfield.

A CAVE SWALLOW was observed from a commercial vessel entering Machiasport Harbor on the 14th.

Northern Maine

A LEACH'S STORM-PETREL found in the mouth of a dog in Mapleton back on the 10th was a first record for Aroostook County. The bird is recuperating at Avian Haven.

RED-BELLIED WOODPECKER, still rare this far north, as well as a RED CROSSBILL have been seen visiting feeders in Presque Isle.
