The incredible ecological value of Scarborough Marsh was on display this morning not much after 6 a.m. Low tide. Viewed the shorebirds and waders of Jones Creek from a couple of vantage points. Perfect lighting, close proximity. Charmed morning.
Highlights included:36 dowitchers (was able to separate both species in side-by-side comparisons, and will try to refine my eBird counts after looking at some of my photos)
Semi Sands and Semi Palmateds galore (300 / 150 estimates)
1 Least Sandpiper (I'm sure I missed many)
1 Willet
6 Greater Yellowlegs
In a pretty amazing linear collection along the water's edge of a sandbar (counted singly in a pan of the scope):
27 Snowies
14 Greats
14 Great Blues
1 Little Blue
1 B-c Night Heron
Pelreco Building was quiet except for one im. B-c Night Heron flyover.14 Greats
14 Great Blues
1 Little Blue
1 B-c Night Heron
Best,
