[Maine-birds] Monhegan update, 9.23.13

Birds arrived yesterday with the shifting winds, including a lot more yellow-rumps and a few other warblers, and streams of hawks all day long.

Bryan Pfeiffer's blog post describes it well:
http://bryanpfeiffer.com/2013/09/24/monhegan-report-no-5-the-fallout/

Highlights for me included:
Great Cormorant
the hawk show--many harriers early, Merlins, Sharpies, handful of Ospreys, several Bald Eagles, Peregrines starting to build in numbers
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher-1
Yellow-billed Cuckoo-1 continuing
Cape May Warblers-many, including several bright birds
Lincoln's Sparrow-7th trip sparrow species, 1, singing
Lark Sparrow-1 continuing
Rusty Blackbird-1 (though I think there's more than one here)

Seen by others but not by me:
Red-necked Grebe-1, harbor
BT Blue Warbler (Doug Hitchcox and Paul Miliotis)
Blackburnian Warbler (Doug and Paul)

Today promises to be another good one!
