A visitor to Coastal Mountains Land Trust's Beech Hill Preserve shared photographs of an Upland Sandpiper seen there on August 30. I felt fortunate to have seen one in the blueberry fields there several springs ago; good to know they make an occasional appearance during fall migration, as well. I'm just waiting for one (or rather, two) to decide to nest there like they have over on Clarry Hill in Union. The Land Trust manages the Beech Hill fields organically to support the birds and wildlife; that would be a sweet payoff.

As a side note, the preserve has been visited a few times this summer by a Black Bear (or maybe more than one).
