Passerine highlights this morning at Sears Island were 9 warbler species highlighted by 2 male WILSON'S near the beginning of the causeway (also Yellow, Chestnut-sided, Magnolia, Yellow-rumped, Bl-thr. Green, B&W, Redstart, C. Yellowthroat), at least 4 flycatcher species (Phoebe, Peewee, Least, Alder/Willow type Empids), 2 vireo species (lots of Red-eyes, 1 Blue-headed) & 2 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks. I didn't count everything, but migrant numbers seemed light and steady. There were very few birds around the point at the far end of the road.
A Sharp-shinned Hawk (maybe Craig's from yesterday) was soaring and circling over the road, and a Merlin was perched conspicuously by the causeway entry on the return walk... with no songbirds around except a Cedar Waxwing & 2 Goldfinches sitting frozen still in the same tree, underneath the Merlin (which apparently didn't see them).
