While we were enjoying our lunch at our new picnic table on the patio, we noticed large and small flocks of shorebirds moving up and across the bay during low tide. On our side of the bay, we scoped 22 Whimbrel, 62 Short-billed Dowitchers and 30+ Semi-palmated Sandpipers.
Quick moving flocks of shorebirds were flying up the bay nearly a mile away. This is the biggest shorebird movement in 2014 for us for southbound shorebirds.
Interestingly enough, no plover of any kind.
