Yesterday I captured the attached closeup images of an apparent egret/heron hybrid at Scarborough Marsh. Others have reported one or more snowy egret/tri-colored heron hybrids with darker legs and brighter yellow feet, and exhibiting the typical darting behavior of a snow egret. This bird had dull yellow legs and feet (though they look darker in one image), and moved much more slowly and deliberately, more akin to a great egret. It was same small size as snowy. In all I saw three birds that looked like hybrids, but two were too distant to photograph well. Would appreciate any thoughts on the pics, or observations from others who have seen hybrids at Scarborough recently. Other sightings at the marsh yesterday were solitary sandpiper, glossy ibis, and little blue heron.
