Re: [Maine-birds] Evergreen Cemetery, Portland

Yes, my husband and I have been watching the developing friendship between the goose and the cormorant. We've also noticed a great blue heron in the mix the last few days. Today, the Cormorant and the Heron were sitting together on the log while the goose was patrolling the waters about five yards or so away. I'm also very happy to see the cormorant with company. And I wonder if they are helping him with food? Or? Not sure.

We also noticed that the upper wing of the cormorant is healing or has healed. Unfortunately, the bottom half of his wing fell off, so I think whatever healing is to be done has been done. I, too, wonder how he will fare as the weather turns.

Lately I've noticed that there is a Canada goose that also never left. There were 3 geese for quite awhile this spring, and eventually 2 left and the last one stayed. I'm assuming that it too is unable to fly. But, the cormorant and the goose have been hanging out together quite a bit, usually sitting together on a log in the water. It is very sweet to see the 2 of them together. I do wonder what will happen this fall.
