[Maine-birds] Woodcock, Hallowell, April 1

Despite the deep snow in the alder thicket a woodcock was doing his song and dance Wednesday evening between 7:30 and 7:45 pm April 1 near the swale east of the Elementary School. After its last ascension I did not hear it spiral back down. Wonder if it went for better courting grounds, or just a better place to sepnd the night?
