[Maine-birds] Schoodic area; of note.

A Brown Booby was photographed when it landed on a lobster boat out at the Schoodic Ridges (offshore) on ~Sept. 17.
The bird rested on the boat for about a half hour according to the report before flying off.

Our SeaWatch, though operating at Schoodic Point in a massive shroud of fog, has teased some seabirds out of the thick mist -
namely Northern Gannets, Common Loon, Double-crested Cormorants, all three species of scoter and falcons.
As expected, numbers are quite low but any window of visibility is revealing passing birds.

A Whimbrel has been heard on two consecutive mornings earlier this week as well (Sunday, Monday).

Conversely, the Cadillac Mountain Hawk Watch, has been shut out for 4 consecutive days.

SeaWatch effort is every morning for 3 hours following sunrise and 2 hours preceding sunset.
Visitors are welcome. Count "station" is at the west end of the Schoodic Point parking lot.
