Hi all,
My additional observations of note in the past seven days also included the following:
- 2 DICKCISSELS continue here at the store through dusk today, November 10th. A few photos from the week are here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/freeportwildbird/38262256246/in/album-72157625893018447/
- 2 "Ipswich" Savannah Sparrows, 2 Semipalmated Plovers, 1 Snow Bunting, 9 Horned Larks, etc, etc, Reid State Park, Georgetown, 11/5 (with friends visiting from NY).
- 1 Red-bellied Woodpecker, feeders here at the store in 11/5. A long-overdue Yard Bird for us, #119!
- no luck for us with the Franklin's Gull at Wharton Point in the afternoon of 11/6 or the morning of 11/7, checking local wet fields and Simpson's Point and other overlooks as well. Slightly-unseasonable numbers of Laughing Gulls continue, however, along with lingering Black-bellied Plovers, Dunlin, Greater Yellowlegs, growing numbers of the expected ducks, and a continued impressive number of inshore Red-throated Loons.
- 1 American Tree Sparrow (first of season), Wharton Point, Brunswick, 11/7 (with Jeannette).
-Greater Yarmouth Goose Fields Update:
My high count this week was down to a mere 462 CANADA GEESE on 11/7. However, 2 AMERICAN COOTS were reported in the little pond on Woodville Road by a neighbor on 11/7.
And finally, a few additional reports received here at the store this week of southern vagrants after the storm systems (and likely the result of either reverse migration and/or reorientation and return migration following the storm included:
- 1 BLACKBURNIAN WARBLER, Samoset Resort, Rockland, 11/3.
- 1 SUMMER TANAGER, Cape Elizabeth, 11/5.
- 1 YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO, Palermo, 11/5.
-Derek
