Weather:
Well, there was no rain today but we still didn't see many birds. There was a breeze from the NNW and WNW with strong gusts for much of the day. The few periods of calm felt fantastic though with the plentiful sun and warmer temps. There was some light cloud cover overhead in the morning which might have helped us spot birds had there been any high above. Most of the remaining count period was direct sun with a line of clouds holding steady to our SSW. Visibility was a little blurred from the heat distortion.

Raptor Observations:
Not many migrants from what I could tell. However, most of the birds I counted were spotted to our SE pretty far out, which makes me think there were probably more out there but they were being pushed towards the coast. With the winds and heat shimmer I think many potential birds were beyond my detection limits. Some birds, like the Osprey I counted were taking a route towards the mountain from the ESE as though they were a large J-turn back inland. Another observation which makes me think there was a flight closer to the coast today. The local birds were very active today. Pairs of BW's, 'tails and many Eagles were out in force, displaying, calling and flying in synchrony at times.

Non-raptor Observations:
26 birds were seen or heard today. We had some really nice views of Pine Warblers and Yellow-rumps which spent lots of time in plain sight. The Blue-headed Vireo was very vocal today, going through many of it's calls and song which was very entertaining. Our first-of-season Black-throated Green Warbler sang once today, which always reminds me of warm weather.

Predictions:
Some whacky winds for tomorrow it looks like, starting the day from the north and shifting to the southeast. Maybe the winds will actually remain light this time as predicted. Looks like a mix of sun and clouds with temps around 60. I am hoping for birds. Hopefully they get pushed to us and not passed us.
