A likely female PAINTED BUNTING showed up by my bird bath yesterday around 7:30 pm. It caught my attention by jumping up from the ground to grab seeds from dandelions. It stayed long enough for a bunch of low light photos which I posted here: https://ebird.org/checklist/S110536866 One intriguing thing was that it seemed to be gathering the seeds in bunches (as if for nest materials) rather than just eating them at once, a pretty out-there possibility I know. I'm putting up a niger or millet feeder later on today to see if it shows up again. So far I haven't seen it today. If anyone has tips on how to attract this bird it would be appreciated, thanks.
