[Maine-birds] Great Portland Sightings

We had a good push of warblers this past week. There weren't huge numbers but a nice bit of diversity. I was lucky enough to see the following warblers this week: 

Chestnut-sided Warbler (08 May 2022, Saccarappa Cemetery)

American Redstart (08 May 2022, Hinckley Park)

Black-throated Blue Warbler (08 May 2022, Capisic Pond Park)

Yellow Warbler (06 May 2022, Fore River Parkway Trail)

Prairie Warbler (03 May 2022, Pleasant Hill Woods)

Black-throated Green Warbler (03 May 2022, Pleasant Hill Woods)

Ovenbird (02 May 2022, Evergreen Cemetery)

Black-and-white Warbler (02 May 2022, Sebago to the Sea Trail, Westbrook)

Northern Parula (02 May 2022, Sebago to the Sea Trail, Westbrook)

Other new arrivals included:

Chimney Swift (08 May 2022, Hinckley Park)

Northern Rough-winged Swallow (08 May 2022, Hinckley Park)

Baltimore Oriole (08 May 2022, Capisic Pond Park)

Gray Catbird (07 May 2022, Evergreen Cemetery)
Blue-headed Vireo (02 May 2022, Sebago to the Sea Trail)

But the highlight of the week was hearing and then seeing the Wood Thrush (07 May 2022, Evergreen Cemetery). In the usual area between the ponds and the brush pile. My wife had heard it's call note a couple evenings earlier but it wasn't until the 7th that I was able to find it. It sang briefly and then was silent. But we later stumbled upon it in the trails between the ponds and the brush pile. Where we were able to watch it for a while as I picked through the leaf litter in all of its red-orangish glory. It's super hard not to love a Wood Thrush.
