Made a trip up to the Allagash on Tuesday. Snow was almost completely gone, which is a little early this year. That made getting around a little easier than usual.
I hit the highlights in a video, but the black-backed woodpecker carving out his new nest hole was (almost) the most interesting encounter…
…except that just a hundred yards down the path, I came across a white-throated sparrow doing something I’ve never heard before – kind of 2 or 3 note stutter before every song. It’s at 3:40 on the video. Has anyone else ever heard anything like this?
