Yup. It’s September 18th and there are still warblers singing in the pines above Pushaw Lake. Summer is hanging on. A Blue-headed Vireo still chatters regularly and sings once and awhile.
But what is really amusing me this morning is that the goldfinches are chattering up a storm, with youngsters wing-waggling near the thistle feeders. A family of Hairy Woodpeckers has been marauding around the suet. The chickadees and nuthatches are giving me no peace. Summer and the breeding season are still hanging on by a thread.
