[Maine-birds] Finch Wife Swapping?

Two Finch couples --Purple and Gold-- have been showing up at my feeder daily for the past week. But whenever they land on the feeder perches they always seem to do so with each other's mates. Here is a picture of the Purple Finch male with the Gold Finch Female.
