[Maine-birds] Ibis flock @ Scarborough Marsh

While there have been a number of postings re the Ibises @ Scarborough the past week noting the numbers and the two species, I wanted to add to the hype by mentioning their behavior. As part of York Co Audubon's Wednesday bird walk, four of us were able to view 60+ Ibises on both sides of the RR tracks just W of the Pelecro site. After watching different groups feed, we viewed all of them take flight when a train passed and rise in a combined gyre hundreds of feet into the air, drift N across the road and then return to resettle and feed once again until the next freight passed - quite an extraordinary sight and well worth the price of admission. Oh, and then there were the White-faced Ibis...
