Hi folks,
Donald Sutherland, a visiting birder from Oregon, found a PACIFIC LOON off West Quoddy Head, Lubec, on Sunday June 9th. Here is his eBird report with photos:

Mr. Sutherland initially identified the bird as Pacific Loon but was not sure because that would be unlikely (hence the delay reporting here). He wisely used his binoculars and point-and-shoot camera to obtain photos and included those with his eBird checklist. Birders visiting the area might be on the lookout for this bird. At the time he saw it, the tide was 2 hours after low in Eastport; so on a flooding tide, which can help push birds closer to shore here. There are very few well-documented Pacific Loon reports in summer from the East Coast, this adding to them.
I want to thank Mr. Sutherland for his rapid, kind, and thorough response to inquiries about the bird, and for using eBird!
