[Maine-birds] Three-Toed Woodpeckers, Spruce Grouse - West of Baxter SP, 7/1-2

Birded the boreal forest just west of Baxter SP the afternoon of 7/1 with Denny Abbott, and on 7/2 through early afternoon with Denny and with Bob Duchesne's help.  The key highlight was seeing 2 American Three-Toed Woodpeckers on 7/1 on Harvest Road, which is just west of Telos Road north of the checkpoint.   We had 1 Black-backed Woodpecker in the same area.  If you'd like directions just reply to me off-list.

On 7/2 we only found 1 Spruce Grouse - and that bird was heard only.  We covered the logging roads east and west of Telos Road.  But we had good views of a family of Gray Jays and Boreal Chickadees in a couple locations.

Other highlights -
9 Red Crossbills on 7/1 (flyover flock)
15 Warbler species including nice views of Bay-breasted and Palm

Larger Mammals -
1 Bear, 2 Moose, 1 Fisher, several Deer
