Jan Pierson and I went out on the Odyssey from Portland this morning and saw a light sampling of seabirds, nothing special - but given the paucity of tubenoses, perhaps adequate:
Great Shearwater: 2
Sooty: 1
Wilson's Storm-Petrel: 20
Leach S-P: 1, somewhat unexpected.
N. Gannet: 20 or so.
Red Phalarope: 1
Semi Plover and Sandpiper.
Probably the most interesting observation, 2 chunky shorebirds that might have been Pecs but couldn't be sure.
Whales: 3 Minkes.
I'd wait to hear better news before heading out.
But it was a lovely day on the water.
Best, Peter
