Visitors:
19 people visited the hawkwatch.

Weather:
The weather was beautiful again today, with temperatures in the sixties and seventies, clear skies, and light, variable winds. Winds picked up a bit and were mostly from the south during the afternoon. It was quite hazy along the horizon as a result of smoke billowing eastward from the wildfires in western Canada.

Raptor Observations:
The highlight of the day occurred when one BLACK VULTURE was seen. This was a first for the season and an exciting bird for the hawkwatch! The bird circled over the horizon above Route 9, joining a Broad-winged Hawk as it thermalled up. Raptor movement was a bit slow today, with most Broad-winged Hawks moving in the morning.

Non-raptor Observations:
Several first of year birds were observed today, including one Scarlet Tanager singing, one Great Crested Flycatcher calling, two Eastern Kingbirds, and one Ruby-throated Hummingbird zipping by. 49 bird species were seen and/or heard.

Species deemed migrating:
41 Tree Swallows
16 Blue Jays
15 Barn Swallows
11 swallow sp.
4 American Goldfinches
3 Chimney Swifts
3 Solitary Sandpipers
2 Double-crested Cormorants
2 Eastern Kingbirds
1 Bank Swallow
1 Belted Kingfisher
1 Mallard

Predictions:
Skies should start out partly cloudy tomorrow, with increasing clouds and a chance of showers during late afternoon. Light southeast winds are predicted. There should be some birds moving ahead of the rain, although migration may be slow and steady.
