Wishful thinking, but I applaud the choice! Juvenile Common Grackle is what you have there. The bill and tail will grow, eyes will lighten. The naked area around the eye might evoke baby Groove-billed Ani, but alas is normal for a fledgling grackle.

Always better to post what you think it is than to wait and find out later one really did see a mega-rarity. No shame; only kudos.

Maybe wishful thinking on my part and just a Brown-headed, seen and photographed also by Rob O'Connell who first saw it, lousy light so we dismissed it as a Brown-headed, but the bird was very dark brown and the bill seemed larger and thicker
