Man, what a day to be out on the island! Beautiful weather, smooth trip out, and warblers to be found. Nothing overly dramatic or unusual, but nice pockets of birds all over, on a perfect sunny day.Several people who have been out here for a few days told me they had tallied 19 warbler species. We had 16 today, including several Bay-breasted, Blackburnian, Cape May (drab first spring bird), lots of Blackpolls (FOY for me), and N. Waterthrush singing. Dipped on Ovenbird, Black-throated Blue, and Tennessee (reported this morning by Pat Moynahan).Other highlights include:Surf Scoter - 3 seen from boat in Port Clyde harborRazorbill - 1 seen from boat right outside Port Clyde harborC. Murre - 3 seen from boat as we approached Monhegan (alas, not by me, being short and on the wrong side of the boat; would have been a new island bird for me)Green Heron - 1 at the Ice PondSora - at least 3 calling tonight in the MeadowAm.
