Visitors:
Nine people visited the hawkwatch.

Weather:
Winds were mostly from the east during the morning, becoming more southerly and southwesterly in the afternoon. Wind speed was very light throughout the day. Skies were overcast, with two brief periods of sprinkles during early and late afternoon.

Raptor Observations:
Raptor movement was very slow today, with a total of eight migrants counted. Many birds are probably following flight paths further inland to avoid the system that is moving through the mid-Atlantic region and southern New England. Local raptors were most active during the morning, including Broad-winged Hawks, Cooper's Hawks, one Red-tailed Hawk (which was mobbed relentlessly by a crow), and Bald Eagles. A few local Turkey Vultures were cruising around.

Non-raptor Observations:
The first Northern Rough-winged Swallow of the season flew over the summit. Mourning Doves were courting, displaying, and chasing each other around the summit during the afternoon. 43 bird species were observed.

Species deemed migrating:
3 warbler sp.
3 Yellow-rumped Warblers
1 American Goldfinch
1 Common Loon
1 Northern Rough-winged Swallow 1 Tree Swallow

Predictions:
Showers are predicted for tomorrow, mainly in the afternoon. Fog in the morning may delay the count, but a few hours of counting should be possible if precipitation holds off. However, unsettled weather and 15-25 mph northeasterly winds are likely to cause another slow day. Temperatures should be in the forties and wind speed is expected to increase as the day progresses.
