[Maine-birds] Northern Maine Birds: Neotropical migrants arriving.

Migrants were streaming into northern Maine today. S

I saw trees full of Bobolinks, heard Soras and saw or heard 8 species of newly-arrived warblers including Nashville, Yellow, Northern Parula., Black-and-White, Chestnut-sided, Northern Waterthrush, Ovenbird and Common Yellowthroat.

This late afternoon I watched a flock of tiny shorebirds flying around Lake Jo in Easton and was able to get close enough to photograph and count them.  I found 16 Least Sandpipers in this pic: https://flic.kr/p/H2BuQc
but had 47 in another of the birds on the wing.

There were some interesting ducks here too , including lots of Gadwall, both scaup, Redhead and a skuky White-winged Scoter.

I saw American Pipits and a Merlin off the Pinkham Road in Nashville Plantation yesterday.  The first Ruby-throated Hummingbird was reported to me from Mapleton yesterday too.

I also recieved a report of a Red-bellied Woodpecker in Fort Fairfield earlier this week.

Good Birding
