Hi all,
-- Just wanted to let you know that the summer resident Red-billed Tropicbird has returned to Seal Island NWR for yet another season. I picked it up flying off the northern end of the island as it headed East/Northeast out to sea. As the terns begin to spend more and more time on the island we expect to see it more often, in fact most days. If you would like to come and enjoy this fantastic bird than I would highly recommend booking a trip with John Drury or the Old Quarry Boat tours out of Stonington. I would recommend the month of June or early July as this is when the bird seems to be the most reliable.

In addition yesterday we had a phenomenal day on the island. Nothing spectacular really but, we had 60 species. It's incredibly difficult to get that kind of diversity on a treeless offshore island in a single day!
Here's the list!
